Sheki Cicelsky
Installation and Lighting Artist
San Francisco, CA · Vinyl, grommets, zip ties · 33 X 31 FT
The pride rainbow is reimagined as a stained-glass-like quilt, its reflections traveling around the space as the sun moves across the sky. The colors and patterns thrown off by this process complement the shop's sleek design, creating an intimate, playful feeling that channels the energy of queer nightlife into the room. The work is site-specific and shifts continuously with the daylight.
Sutro FM, San Francisco, CA · Cotton sheets, dyes, LED bars, twine · 22 X 24 FT
Tie dyed fabric-covered dance studio, resembling a childhood fort or womb, with dynamic-patterned lights lighting them from above. The dyed fabrics theme continued onto the loungy furniture, creating a cohesive space to dance, or kick back and enjoy the tunes.
Guerneville, CA · Vinyl, grommets, zip ties · 30 X 28 FT
Diagonal and vertical blocks of color create a 3D plaid pattern, bringing in colored light and dynamic effects to the afternoon dancers at the final pool party.
The Great Northern, San Francisco, CA · Wire, expanding foam, spray paint · 16 X 12 FT
Inspired by the playfulness of the party name, these hand crafted talisman-like shapes suspend over the main stage for world renowned DJ/producers Ben UFO, Pangea and Pearson Sound of Hessle Audio.
Four Quarters Interfaith Sanctuary, Artemas, PA · Vinyl, grommets, zip ties, paracord · 45 X 45 FT
The vinyl quilt concept is integrated and supported by an old drum circle structure, billowing under a canvas web — created by artist Derek St. Pierre. The soft colors and spiral pattern were selected to match the intention behind this space, where festival attendees can take a break and enjoy a workshop, talk, or yoga class.
Underground SF, San Francisco, CA · Stalactites; pantyhose, reused bubble wrap, balloon lights. Light worm; 100 ft long LED light, muslin, wire. Chill area; mesh, neon rope, UV light · 36 X 20 FT
Using unconventional and reused materials to create a stalactite-like disco cave. The seated area was tucked behind pieced together mesh, with a 100 foot long light worm hovering over the bar area and dancing with the laser beaming onto the dance-floor.
Underground SF, San Francisco, CA · Canopy; cardstock, staples, fishing wire. Ponpons; tissue paper, rope · 36 X 20 FT
The first iteration of the checkered canopy, using cardstock instead of vinyl. The negative space between the squares created windows for the laser and disco ball to filter through.
